ARCHIVED AND NO LONGER RELEVANTAugust 17, 2009: PECO Files Smart Meter Plan
On August 14, 2009, PECO filed with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (“PUC”) its smart meter plan. The $650 million plan seeks to install over 1.6 million residential and commercial smart meters in addition to advanced fiber optics and wireless communication networks over a ten-year period. If approved, substantial cost savings to customers, service improvements, and environmental benefits are expected over the life of the plan.
